Dear Guardian,
With Donald Trump’s sons boasting about making trophies out
of some of the world’s most majestic wildlife, I fear that the Trump
Administration will not be kind to grizzly bears and other native carnivores.
Trophy hunters and trappers—and the state wildlife agencies
that promote them—rejoiced on election night knowing they’d have a friend in
the White House.
In the case of grizzly bears, fewer than 2,000 remain in the
lower 48 states. Yet right now states are divvying up the body count to give to
wealthy trophy hunters.
You’ve helped us protect threatened and endangered
species before, and we need your help again to fight for grizzlies during the
Trump Administration. Please support our Endangered
Species Defense Fund with a gift of $50, $100, $500, or more and
enable us to protect grizzly bears and other imperiled species.
You and I know native carnivores aren’t trophies. They’re
magical and ecologically important creatures deserving of our awe, wonder, and
respect.
But, sadly, that’s not what they are going to get under a
Trump Administration.
Grizzlies and other native carnivores like wolves and
wolverine will be targets for the hostility and hatred of trophy hunters and
ranchers.
It’s not just grizzly bears that will be at risk; it’s the
entire Endangered Species Act that is threatened. Trump’s plan will be to gut
the Act through “regulatory rollbacks” and “business friendly policies.” Together, we can
prevent this from happening.
Our Endangered Species Defense Fund will help us hold
the line and defend America’s most powerful wildlife law. The Endangered
Species Act does not need tinkering. We don’t need to give states more control;
their failures to protect habitat and prevent killing are one of the primary
reasons that many species became threatened or endangered in the first place.
If some of our most beloved species are to be saved, it is
up to us to take action now.
Be a Guardian for grizzlies and please support our Endangered
Species Defense Fund with a gift today.
For the wild,
