Dear Guardian,
We have begun the urgent work to repair the deep, structural damage that the Trump administration inflicted on the foundations of our nation’s environmental policy.
Critical to this effort will be restoring and strengthening our nation’s bedrock environmental law—the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA)—which Trump gutted to ease the path for resource extraction industries and corporate polluters at the expense of public health, our climate, wildlife, public lands, and clean air and water. We need your help.
WildEarth Guardians has used NEPA to protect living rivers, shut down industrial logging and road-building projects on public lands, defend the climate, and safeguard imperiled wildlife like grizzly bears, sage grouse, and wolves. In short, NEPA gives everyone important tools needed to stand up to private, often well-financed efforts to exploit our environment at the expense of our health and well-being.
Trump’s anti-public, polluter-friendly rollbacks to NEPA have effectively erased the federal government’s responsibility to protect our environment. With these rollbacks, we have lost the backbone of environmental accountability and, in turn, our most powerful law in our fight for the Wild. We must not accept this.
You have stood with us to defend NEPA in the past, and today I ask for your continued support. Raise your voice. Demand that the Biden administration reverse course, repair the damage inflicted on NEPA over the past four years, and work to strengthen this essential national law that forms the foundation of environmental protection.
