Traps Are Still Legal on All Public Lands in New Mexico

Dear Guardian,

But not for much longer if we can help it.

Despite the majority of all New Mexico voters wanting traps banned from public lands, they remain present and inflict damage on citizens, pets, and wildlife, including the endangered Mexican wolf.

WildEarth Guardians will be present at the following events building momentum and advocates to get New Mexico's archaic legislation changed once and for all. Come to one of the following festivals to learn more and sign a petition:

  • Saturday, April 12, 10:00am-2:00pm
Pet Food Gone Wild Easter Event, Cabezon Park, 2305 Cabezon Blvd SE in Rio Rancho, NM

If you ready to take the next step in banning animal traps and poison from our public land, attend a Trap Free New Mexico volunteers training session to learn: petitioning and setting up a Trap Free New Mexico table at events; writing letters to publications; and making a lobby visit to your representative in the New Mexico legislature.

If you cannot attend the volunteer training sessions but want to help, please contact Bob Brister at bbrister@wildearthguardians.org.

Join us in finding out more about the problems with trapping and how we are working to end the needless endangerment of the public and the ongoing destruction of pets and wildlife.

New Mexicans value the wildlife that still roams the state's deserts, grasslands, and forests. In fact, 63% of New Mexican voters believe that traps should be restricted or abolished on public land. Public lands and wildlife belong to us all, yet these vicious devices diminish and threaten these values. Join the movement to ban traps on public lands in New Mexico!
