Dear Guardian,
Beautiful, intelligent, highly social, apex carnivore, critically endangered. These words
describe the Mexican gray wolf, or lobo.
Lobos are native to the American Southwest. With only 83 left
in the wild, they remain one of the most endangered mammals in the world.
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service proposed changes to the
government’s Mexican gray wolf management plan. A couple of the changes are
good but many will hurt the prospects for recovery.
