Together We'll End the Greater Chaco Fracking Free-for-all
Dear
Guardian,
We have exciting news to share
with you. As you might remember, back in March, along with our allies, we filed
a lawsuit against the Interior Department for illegally approving fracking in
the Greater Chaco region of New Mexico. But, the government has refused to
listen to good sense and continues to approve fracking permits as fast as they
can.
So today, we filed for an injunction to stop all drilling on our public
lands in the Greater Chaco area. Our campaign continues to grow: along with
the lawsuit and injunction, we’ve
hired a dedicated Chaco organizer, taken
out newspaper advertising, written to Congress, gathered petition signatures,
and told anyone who would listen about the precious relics of ancient Chaco
culture and the way they and living Navajo communities are threatened by modern,
high-pressure, toxic fracking.
Your help in this fight has been
critical, but we can’t let up on the
pressure yet. There are three ways you can help right now. First, please call one or all three of these
Members of Congress today and tell them to ask for a moratorium on all
fracking in the Greater Chaco region.
Senator Tom
Udall, (202)
224-6621
Senator Martin
Heinrich, (202)
224-5521
Congressman Ben Ray
Luján, (202)
225-6190
Next,
please help us fuel this campaign with a donation. If you do, a generous supporter of WildEarth Guardians
will match your effort up to $5000.
Finally,
if you haven’t already, please inspire
yourself—and share with others—this four-minute video, narrated by
Peter Coyote, which lays out all of the beautiful and awful details on why we
simply cannot lose the Chaco fight.
With your help, we will
end the Greater Chaco fracking free-for-all, not only to protect this precious
place, but as the first step in a national fight to end fracking everywhere on
our public lands and waters. Fracking and coal mining our public lands is just
plain wrong and a dire threat to our climate and our future. Together we are
going to Keep
It in the Ground!
