Dear
Guardian,
Imperiled grizzly bears, Canada lynx and wolverine all call
northwest Montana’s Flathead National Forest home. Facing threats from climate
change, traps and habitat destruction, they need you to speak out to protect one
of their last remaining wild refuges.
The Flathead National Forest is revising its forest plan, a
document that will guide where and how much of the forest will be safe for
wildlife. Please sign our citizens’ comment letter to ensure necessary safeguards
are in place to protect the region’s wildlife.
The Flathead provides vital habitat for grizzly bears in the
heart of the Northern Continental Divide Ecosystem. Importantly, decisions made
today in the Flathead will have a ripple effect through the entire ecosystem: four
other neighboring national forests plan to adopt the Flathead’s grizzly bear
habitat protections. That means your voice will impact decisions across 3.42
million acres of our public lands.
The Northern Rockies are a crown jewel of our nation’s most
idyllic intact, interconnected, big, wild places. Join us in calling on the
U.S. Forest Service to ensure this region will thrive into the future for the
benefit of wildlife and people alike.
Join us in calling on the Forest Service to rewild and
remove thousands of miles of unnecessary roads currently fragmenting important
wildlife habitat, keep fossil fuels in the ground, and prohibit disturbance
from snowmobiles and off-road vehicles raging across this quiet, wild
landscape. We are also asking the Forest Service to increase habitat
protections for rare and imperiled species including grizzly bears, lynx, and
wolverines.
You can help make lasting positive change on our
public lands in the Flathead and across the Crown of the Continent ecosystem. Join
us in being a voice for wildlife and wild places.
For the wild,
