Dear
Guardian,
Today
WildEarth Guardians, together with a coalition of dozens of tribal, local, and
national groups, sent a strong message to U.S. Senator Tom Udall of New Mexico—enough is enough! No more fracking in Greater Chaco.
Join us in echoing this call, Senator
Udall needs to stand up for New Mexico and Greater Chaco. Send a letter today,
or better
yet, make a phone call!
In the last two years over 365 new oil and gas wells have
been approved by the Obama Administration in Greater Chaco, putting the region’s
Indigenous communities at risk and threatening the cultural sanctity of this
remarkable landscape.
In spite of requests to put the brakes on fracking and
ensure the region is safeguarded, the Obama Administration has been playing
politics. Even as oil and gas wells are exploding in the region, industry
demands are still trumping everything else.
Greater Chaco needs our help. With Chaco Canyon at its core,
this region of northwestern New Mexico is the sacred heart of the American
Southwest.
Over the last two years, we’ve called on Senator Udall to
join us in supporting common sense protections for Greater Chaco. We’ve held
lobby meetings in New Mexico and Washington, D.C., sent letters, rallied; we
even delivered over 165,000 petitions from concerned citizens who joined in
making the demands necessary to keep our communities safe and our public lands
protected.
We need Senator Udall to stand up and speak out for
protecting the Greater Chaco region today! Send him a letter or better yet, call
his office!
The situation is urgent. On January 18, 2017, the Obama
Administration wants to auction off more than 800 acres of public lands near
Chaco Canyon for fracking. This should not be happening. We need Senator
Udall’s help.
We’ve had enough. Join us in calling on Senator Udall to
finally take a stand to protect Greater Chaco. Send a letter or
call his office today.
For the Wild,
Jeremy Nichols
