Dear Guardian,
President Trump is literally in his first days of office and
already he’s bending over backward to hand over our public lands to the coal
industry.
Join us as we stand up to the Trump Administration’s
collusion with coal companies and defend our future and our climate from the
grips of industry.
This time it’s the Big Sky State of Montana that’s in the
crosshairs. A proposal by Trump’s Bureau of Land Management stands to let Cloud
Peak Energy, one of the largest coal companies in the United States, strip mine
more than 2,000 acres at the company’s Spring Creek mine.
The mining would occur right along Montana’s Tongue River, a
vital tributary to the Yellowstone River and within miles of the historic
Rosebud Battlefield.
What’s worse is that Cloud Peak expects to export coal from
its Spring Creek mine overseas.
Send your letter today and join thousands more who are
making their voices heard! Let’s defend our climate and our natural heritage,
we have to resist Trump’s climate denying corruption.
Because this is our coal we’re talking about. Seriously, the
coal that Cloud Peak wants to strip mine is actually owned by the American
public—that’s you and me. That means we have a say in whether it’s sold to
Cloud Peak. And I know you’re with me when I say it’s time to keep our coal in the ground.
I know you get asked to send a lot of letters and I know it
seems like they don’t help. Believe me, they matter now more than ever.
Every letter helps us build a record of opposition to land grabs by the coal industry. Every letter gets us closer to success, whether it’s by confronting the political paradigm, filing lawsuits, or making the coal industry think twice about running over the American public.
The Trump Administration is wasting no time opening up our
public lands to the fossil fuel industry. It’s up to us to rise, resist, and
take a stand—join us, send your letter, be a part of the movement.
Thank you so much.
For the wild,
