Dear Guardian,
It’s
becoming all too clear why President Trump has attacked our National Monuments.
This
month, Trump and his Secretary of the Interior, Ryan Zinke, announced plans to
auction off more than 57,000 acres of our public lands for fracking right next
to the Bears Ears National Monument in Southern Utah.
This is
where your voice matters most. Speak out today to defend our sacred public lands and
resist the oil and gas industry’s attempts to despoil the Bears Ears.
The Bears
Ears National Monument is our nation’s newest Monument and a cultural
treasure. It’s deep canyons, iconic
buttes, and Ancestral Puebloan ruins are unmatched and they’re a majestic
symbol of American history and our legacy of public lands.
Apparently,
though, Trump and Zinke couldn’t care less about reverence for the sacred.
They’ve
not only indicated they intend to lift protections for the Bears Ears, now
they’re greasing the skids for companies to come in and frack.
Send a letter today in defense of Bears Ears and in
support of the American West. Tell
Trump and Zinke that we won’t tolerate their schemes to sell our public lands
to the oil and gas industry.
Because
it’s not just our lands, it’s also our climate and our clean energy future at
risk.
Every acre
of public lands auctioned to the oil and gas industry for fracking leads to 10
metric tons of carbon pollution every year. With 26 million acres already sold to the companies like BP and Exxon,
we can’t afford one more acre to be given away.
Defend the Bears Ears National Monument and our climate
from fracking. Stand up to the oil and
gas industry and their cronies, Trump and Zinke.
Thank you.
For the wild,

P.S. Zinke’s plans also threaten
Recapture Canyon, a spectacular area full of rich cultural history.
While this Canyon is closed to motorized vehicles, it could be opened up
to the oil and gas industry, destroying its cultural heritage.
P.P.S. Unbelievably, the
oil and gas industry has described the Bears Ears National Monument as an
“obstacle” to development.
Only by rising up and pushing back will we have a chance to keep Bears Ears and
other sacred lands safe from fracking.
