Dear Guardian,
Tomorrow, September 30, is National Public Lands Day. Here at Guardians we’re lacing up our hiking boots and packing our tents to celebrate this day in the best way possible—by reveling in the beauty of our public lands.
Wallace Stegner once wrote that public lands and the wild country that endures on our lands “can be a means of reassuring ourselves of our sanity as creatures, a part of the geography of hope.” I invite you to take a moment and define what our public lands mean to you.
So grab a friend, a family member, or your dog, and fall in love—for the first time or for the hundredth time—with our public lands this weekend. Then share your stories on our Facebook page or by tweeting at @wildearthguard using the hashtag #NPLD. The Guardians community will be posting about our own weekend wanderings, too.
See you outside.
For the wild,
