A Win For Our Climate and Montana's Treasured Lands

Town of Livingston, Beartooth Mountains Spared From Fracking Auction

Other Lands in Montana Remain at Risk, Speak Out in Their Defense

Dear Guardian,

In response to overwhelming public protest and pressure, the Trump administration has backed down from plans to auction away 17,300 acres of public lands for fracking in Montana.

It's a big win, but thousands of acres of Montana are still slated to be auctioned away to the oil and gas industry next week.

Speak out today and tell President Trump and his Interior Secretary, Ryan Zinke, that our public lands are not for sale.

Without a doubt, we scored a win. Zinke and his Bureau of Land Management were proposing to auction public lands for fracking in the Greater Yellowstone region, including lands right next to the town of Livingston, Montana, the original gateway to Yellowstone National Park.

It's a big step forward, but unfortunately more than 46,000 acres of public lands in Montana remain on the auction block. These include lands near the Upper Missouri River Breaks National Monument and vast tracts in northern Montana.

Send a tweet in defense of these vulnerable lands. While Greater Yellowstone is safe from fracking for now, all public lands in Montana need to be safeguarded from the fossil fuel industry.

WildEarth Guardians has been working tirelessly with our partners in and near Livingston to defend the Greater Yellowstone region from fracking. This is the last place oil and gas development should ever happen.

Thankfully, we've saved this region for the time being.

However, now it's time for us all to dig in more deeply and defend all our public lands from fossil fuels. Our public lands should not be auctioned away for fracking. Our climate and our future simply can't afford it.

Let's celebrate this latest win, but let's make sure to keep up the pressure!
