Where Antelope (and Other Large Mammals) Roam

The lands that extend from New Mexico's Otero Mesa to Montana's Rocky Mountain Front are as stunning in scenery as they are rich in wildlife. Yet, many of these multiple use public lands are being irrevocably altered to develop energy. Joel Berger will offer a 30 minute talk that blends wildlife spectacles with science in a pursuit to understand how better to manage the energy footprint across our precious western landscapes.

Dr. Berger has studied caribou in Alaska and Greenland, black rhinos in Africa, and predator-prey interactions involving tigers, wolves and grizzly bears. His current efforts focus on the effects of energy development on wildlife in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem and western Wyoming. Joel is a senior scientist for the Wildlife Conservation Society (www.wcs.org).
