A Letter from Economists to President Bush and the Governors of Eleven Western States Regarding the Economic Importance of the W

We are economists, and we are writing to express our concern about federal and state actons that harm the West's natural environment and, as a result, the economic outlook for this region's workers, families, firms, and communities.

In the letter, the economists state that may state and federal actions are causing environmental degradation, increase the risk of future degradation and slow efforts to reverse past degradation and ultimately harm the economic well-being of many residents of the West.
